I have a '99 Jeep Wrangler Sport and I was wondering if I could tow my 19'6" BassCat Pantera 2? I don't think it would work out, considering how light jeeps are and its a fairly heavy boat. Wanted to get some input from people on the forum if they have an experience with a similar situation. Thanks!

Towing would not be a big issue; stopping would be.

It will pull it but I agree with Don stopping is going to be a problem.

Saw a jeep one time towing a boat and couldn't make curve because front end to lite, needless to say it wasn't pretty.

Trailer tongue weight becomes VERY important on something like a jeep. +1 to comments above about braking.

I used to pull a 26' Sea Ray cuddy cabin on a tandem axle trailer with trailer brakes, with a CJ-5. It was never a problem, but only to fuel boat and launch, never more than about 8 miles. I would not have wanted to pull it a long distance. If your boat trailer was a tandem axle with trailer brakes, you would probably be ok.

A guy around abilene used to pull a 21' bass boat behind a jeep wrangler. I have the same boat as you do, but use a full size pickup. As long as your jeep has the inline 6 just give yourself plenty of braking time and you should be alright

I have a 19' center console I have pulled with my TJ wrangler but only to a close lake in town. It's hard to keep up on a freeway and you have to be very carefull about stopping distance. It will also only get about 11 mgh where my diesel will pull it and get 18 mph.

The short wheel base on some jeeps can cause stability issues.

Those little Jeeps are only rated to tow 2000 lbs.

That's it! .....just because another Darwin Award contestant has developed a novel way to compete for this year's awards you should do it too!

+2 to the comment about braking. You can't make it not rain, and you can't stop someone else from getting in your way. Please install a dash cam so we can see what eventually happens.
