Yesterday was tough. Beautiful day to be on the water but couldn't land a fish. Stopped at four different areas and got one bite. I am very thankful it is filling up though.

I'm sitting here in my house about 2 miles from my crappie spawn fishing spot, and I am having a hard time trying to will myself out this morning 'cause I inow how muddy it's going to be.

Really thankful for the water rising though.

Went out from 9-11am. Caught 3 dinks. Not sure it qualifies enough to say I broke in my new Pro Angler rod.

Give it a week, water will clear up.

Way to go. Beats sitting around the house. That's for sure.

It's hard to understand why people think that crappie won't feed in muddy water. That would be like saying that you won't eat for a week because it's cloudy. They have to eat to live (like you), and crappie are oppertunist when it comes to food. If it's there, they'll eat. I understand that GV fishes better in cleaner water (after fishing it for 20+ years), but the crappie are feeding, muddy or clear. Keep in mind that muddy runoff water will generally only be a few feet deep. Some of my largest fish this time of year have come out of 'chocolate milk' colored water.

Its not that they don't feed its just that they cant see. This has proven itself over and over again for me this year. I fish one spot one day and catch a limit with semi-clear water. I come back to the same spot with muddy water now and try several different techniques on top of what I did to catch the fish and day before and come up with not a single bite.

Don't give up fellers.
Water temps here in Central Texas are 71 and they are still spawning. All the females we caught today had eggs in them. So if they are still spawning this far south, I know they will still be up there next week. cheers

I agree with you Anthony. Guy, you may have been fishing Grapevine for 20 years but not daily like Kid Crappie has. I've also fished GV for 14+ years and unless you're mid lake to the northern part of the lake where there usually is muddier water, it hurts the fishing from the Island to the south. It's not Texoma....

I was down at TC last week after work and it was still pretty muddy. We had our boat out on Saturday and there was still some debris around the docks so hopefully it will clear up. However with the new rain the next few days, looks like it's back to the mud/muck. bang

Were you in a boat, slips, or bank fishing? If in boat where do you launch? Thanks in advance.
