O. H. Ivie-Big Fish Days



I finally got the video done. It� springtime finally and that means Deric and I have been chopping at the bit to get an Ivie trip in. Our schedules and weather finally lined up for what ended up as another great trip.

Wednesday April 8, 2015

We get up at 5 am and head over Elm Creek Village for our traditional breakfast burrito to go. The morning starts off slow. We catch a few small ones. Then something strange happens; Deric tosses his lure up by a tree where a few hours before he lost a really good fish. I see him set the hook and his line breaks. Less than 5 minutes later I toss in the same spot and get popped. I catch a nice 3lb bass with Deric�s swimbait in its mouth. Deric�s bait was hooked deep. Deric is a master at getting hooks out of deep hooked fish.
We move on the fish were not in some of our old haunts so move up the lake to try some new ones. It didn�t log before Deric lands almost back to back nice Bass. An 8.25 and a 8.75 within 100 yards of each other.
We continue to move and I get a catch a personal best 9.25 lb bass. That personal best will be short lived as you will see. We end the day with 3 good fish and over 30 other smaller bass.

Thursday April 9, 2015

Another early wake up and we are ready to go. We head over to Elm Creek and Jerry already has our burritos ready to go before we arrived. We get out on the water quickly and move up to where we left them the previous day. It starts off slow again. Few bites and small fish. As we were leaving a cove I across a point and get a very soft hit. This ends up being the fish of my life so far. After a good battle I end up breaking my days previous personal best with a 10.25 lb bass.
What a great trip. 4 great fish all over 8lbs with a 10 lb kicker. Great company good fishing. Don�t get me wrong. You won�t come to Ivie and just catch fish. We worked hard for them. Lots of moving, weather and wind changes. It�s easy to get discouraged on this lake but if you keep at it and put in long days and move when you don�t find them you�ll get rewarded.
