I live in Lufkin, tx and normally bass fish. Looking to catch a lot of catfish for fun and to fish fry. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!

Careful on Rayburn. I think there is a consumption advisory there. But Livingston is a great lake

Thanks,
Olen

Ok Ty for the info, any areas to concentrate on in particular. I know from past experience fishing under the water turkey roosts was always good, but I don't know the lakes well enough to know here in the area.

On Rayburn I fish the riprap off the dam with shrimp for eater channels and blues. I haven't been to Livingston in a while but when I did I would fish the Trinity behind the dam with shad.

Caught all our fish today very shallow--1 1/2 to two FOW.
I was marking some deeper but the ones biting were shallow grassy area where rain runoff had been coming in-

Rayburn has tons of channel catfish and very few blues. It also has tons of timber. I have found the best method 365 days a year is chum several trees several hundred yards away from each other and then fish ounch bait straight down try 18 - 25'.

Livingston is a good catfish lake...Rayburn is full of 12 - 16" channel cats.
