Do you guys know of any good carp fishing spots in Coppell? Preferably ones that have shallow enough carp to be able to be caught on the fly rod.

I'm also a newbie to carp fishing. Always been a hardcore catfishing guy but recently the carp has been on my mind heavy! While I dont know many places specifically in coppell I work in that area and drive around there ALL day long and I see TONS of carpy looking spots. If I where you I'd take a look at that water north of sandy lake rd and south of hwy 121 along MacArthur blvd. I know theres a bunch of houses in there around those canals but there seems to be a walking trail and I havent seen any signs that say you CANT fish. I am planning on taking some corn and bread out there one night and giving it a shot. Also if your new to the area it seems to me that at one time long ago that entire coppell/farmers branch/carrollton/las colinas area used to be mostly lowland swampy area of the former Hutchins ranch. I've spoken with a carrollton water district board member and he told me that was the case anyway. He said that alot of those canals and water ways all tie in in some way to denton creek or the elm fork. I would imagine that most of them contain a fair amount of carp.

Theres also a carp fishing google map in this section you can look at, it has tons of spots in the coppell/farb/las colinas area.

Once again I dont know much at all at carp fishing and I'm just getting started so anyone with some pointers for this area or the keller/nrh/mid cities areas would be appreciated! I'd be willing to trade some of my cat spots for some carp spots via PM if anyone cares to share!

I worked at Camden valley park for some time. It's off valley ranch parkway. Part of the canal was accessible from that property. But last i remember they drained that section back a little ways due to the drought at the time. It may be back up. There is another Camden property of the other side of valley ranch that you can park at ands walk under the bridge. This is an even better place to fish as the canal runs into another canal. Basically creating a T where they meet. I've caught catfish and seen carpwhen they drained that one section that time.
