Went to Lake Somerville today in my new kayak. It was the maiden voyage and it worked out pretty well. I put in at Big Creek Park and paddled back to a relatively sheltered bay. I was fishing for crappie and catfish. No crappie, but did manage to catch some nice channel cats on some punch bait. They were in about 4-6 feet of water and I was fishing the bait about 3 feet under a slip bobber. Right before the rain came in, they turned on. I caught the first 5 over about 2 hours and the rest in less than 30 minutes. I also lost two at the boat and had two break off. Lots of dinks as well.
