Heh heh heh........ Reminds me of a young couple I saw one time at Lakeview Marina. They had a big cabin cruiser on a trailer that the hubby was tying down as the little wife sat in their tow vehicle -- a Pontiac Sunbird. I pulled up next to them to tie down my Stratos and I had to ask the young lady if they really tow that big rig with that little car. She said that they did, but it took forever to get up any speed. When I commented that it probably took several forevers to get it stopped, she just rolled her eyes and said nothing. Lucky for me; they turned right leaving the marina as I turned left. Didn't want to be anywhere near that wreck when it happens...........

I'm just wondering whether the transmission went first, or the brakes.

Instead of guessing what your jeep weighs and the boat rig weighs, take them to a public or private scale and get them weighed individually. That will let you know and not have to guess. I think your jeep will weigh more than you think and the boat will weigh less. Both will be close to each other.

knowing you are over loading a tow vehicle makes you criminally negligible. if you hit someone you will go to jail and lose everything you own after someone sues you (your insurance does not cover this)..... i tell my wife if someone hits her and is towing something, request the officer to bring the vehicle to the scales. there are also lots of dumba$$es towing huge campers with a 1/2 ton truck squatting the bed till its hitting the bump stops here in southeasttexas.......also illegal

And majority of the time those same "dumba$$es" will have very little to loose or be taken from them once you spend thousands taking them to court.

However, I do believe everyone should be accountable for their actions...
