I am into tournament fishing on my highschool bass team and part of tournament fishing is pre fishing. We are required to have a captain (older person) and it's my dad's boat so he is captain. Well my dad used to love fishing but for catfish and whitebass (you know the easy ones) but he really doesn't do much largemouth fishing. During pre fishing he sits at the back of the boat and fishes just like us, but he doesn't catch that much. I am trying to figure out how to teach him to use a Texas rig or some lure like it the right way(not just casting out and realing it in) but I don't have the time to teach him with tournaments and school and other stuff.**What I'm trying to say is do y'all know some lures tht I could hook him up with that he can go out and have some fun catching bass(they don't need to be big) but he doesn't need a whole lot of skill to fish(like he doesn't need to feel for a t-rig bite)** or do you have some recomebdations on things I can do with/for him to get him to enjoy his time fishing w/ me as much as we used to and not be so burnt out**
-thanks for the help It just pains me I see the person that got me into fishing not enjoying fishing with me like we used to

Go to a local community pond give him a 4inch green pumpkin senko weightless or 1/8oz weight have him toss it out and just dead stick it 10-30 seconds then move it some then stop it just keep it on bottom. He will catch one pretty quick this time of year once he gains confidence and understands what the bite feels like he will be able to start expanding his t-rig fishing to other baits in shallow and deep water

Does he want to learn? He might just be happy taking you out. If he does then get him on YouTube videos to watch. I'd suggest taking a guide trip somewhere. A guide will be able to spend time and yeah him a technique to use.

Has he tried a c-rig? I get much more feel using one and to me the bite is much more pronounced.

Throw a light carolina rig with 1/4 or 3/8 oz weight ,14-18"leader and a zoom 4" finesse worm and he will get bites.I just peg my weight and slide it down, works great this time of year.Enjoy time fishing with your dad he certainly is enjoying his time with you

If he's a soak a bait type guy drop shot might keep him entertained. Just shorten the leader if fishing shallow.

Spinner bait chatter bait square bill are all chunk and wind baits. A lil rod movement and what not is good to vary retrieve. Guide trip is a good idea too

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.
