I am scheduled to go on an overnite canoe/kayak trip this weekend on the Brazos below Possum Kingdom. The trip is not a fishing trip although I will bring a fishing rod and some lures. Assuming we go (it may be cancelled if there is a threat of storms and at this point there is on Saturday), we will start at Rochelle's, paddle upstream as far as we want to go, find a place to camp overnite, then paddle back downstream to Rochelle's on Sunday. The original plan was to have Rochelle's take us about 20 miles upstream and we would take two days to paddle back, but apparently there would be a lot of dragging given low water levels.

Interested in hearing if anyone knows what the water levels are in that area, availability of camping locations for a party of about 10 (although I believe the trip leaders are aware of potential locations), and what type of lures I should bring and what to fish for (I am thinking a few road runners, rooster tails, some swim baits. I will be bringing my Cuda 12 but I believe most of the rest of the group will do canoes and I will likely be the only one fishing.

I have done the 20 mile trip more than a few times and every time it feels like my first. I love that stretch of the river. The folks at rochelles are good people. Haven't been down there in about a year or so. Let us know how you do.

Thanks. With the potential of storms Saturday, the trip may get cancelled which at this point seems more likely than not. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would think that'd be the trip to do on that stretch. I drove over the 16 bridge last weekend, it looked low.
