Selling my 1979 Ranger 198V bass boat. I've had the boat about 5 years. Boat is 17 foot, has a 175 Mercury on it. Runs good, tops out around 48-50 with 2 guys and a full load. Has new Carlisle trailer tires, L.E.D trailer lights, and new bunk boards. Carbs were rebuilt in 2013. New cranking battery, has 24v MinnKota edge 70 trolling motor. Brand new 3 bank charger, Lowrance Elite 7HDI at the helm, and a Lowrance HDS5x at the bow. Boat is extremely reliable and has never left me stranded. DOES not leak a drop. Fish all day and no water when you pull the plug. Live wells work, but the pump seems a little weak. Boat is 35 years old, so please keep that in mind. Has plenty of scratches on it.. Can meet at a local lake for any serious buyers wanting a test ride. Have title to boat and motor. Thanks 469-853-2473

That's a sweet deal for someone wanting to get into a boat.

Thanks. Has new steering cables and just replaced one of the hubs on the trailer also. Boat is registered until April 07 and trailer until this August. Buddy and I spent a week at Fork 2 weeks ago, 0 issues.

Are you sure about the length? We have a 1976 175A and it was 17' long, and the 185 was 18'-5". I think a 198 is longer than 17'. Anyway, it's hard to imagine someone could get into a Ranger with a 175 and a 70 lb. thrust trolling motor for about the price of a good used aluminum boat with a small outboard. Seems like a great deal.

Title says 17', but I haven't actually put a tape on it.. I think its priced to move.. Hell it really needs nothing. Just go fishing, we were at Ray Roberts today for 4-5 hours..

Guess I was wrong on length, I found a link on iboats (http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Ranger_Boats_-AR-__198V__1980/bp/66b69858) that sounds like it's about 17'-10" with an 88" beam. That's about like the 363 as far as dimensions goes. Anyway, I thought they were longer than that. But I think you're right, it's priced to move. Somebody could buy this and with a little carpentry and new carpet build a deck extension and have a huge platform to fish from. Hope it sells to someone that will get a lot more good out of it, Rangers are still hard to beat, our 1988 model is still going strong, thank God above, after 26 (or 27) years.

I grew up fishing out of a 79 Ranger just like this one. My dad still fishes out of it and I don't think he would trade it for a new one. That boat got me addicted to Ranger boats. Good luck with the sale. You can't go wrong buying a Ranger like this.
