I'd like to assume I'm just being a worry wart, but too many of my assumptions end up badly for me...  Outboard (Mercury 150 Optimax) in storage since mid-December. Put on the mouse ears, turned the water on all the way, motor came to life in just a few seconds. Sounded good but I estimate it took at least a minute for water to start coming out the [censored] hole. Is that normal after 4 months storage or does it indicate a possible problem? Worries me because when I had the boat in the water last year the motor started peeing a few seconds after starting.

take tha cowl off.. put it in tha lake.. hose lot different than in tha water.. jus let it idle.. feel tha heads for temp.. look it over really well while runnin'.. it will let ya know pretty quick if ya got a problem........

Put a new impeller on it. It is easy and will fix your worries. I replace mine every two years.

Put a new impeller on it. It is easy and will fix your worries. I replace mine every two years. this

Put a new impeller on it. It is easy and will fix your worries. I replace mine every two years. x2 Just good to change every year or two period. Might not fully solve your issue, but it also might exactly solve your issue. And of course they are talking about your water pump impeller, you may or may not have inferred that.
