I couldn't decide on peddle or paddle so I did both. My wife and I just picked up a Hobie PA 14 and a Wilderness Ride 135 (partly because my brother and his wife will use them too).

I figured I'd only use the PA for fishing. I tried it out at Marine Creek last Sunday and got the peddles and seat set up for me and WOW what a ride. I can see me spending all day in this yak. It is effortless when set up right.

The pic is of the trailer I built for kayaking and our new kayaks.

Congrats. The Hobies are nice boats. I just picked up my Ride115 Saturday and I had already gotten the wife a Tarpon100. I had said I wasn't interested in fishing from it since I have a fishing boat, but the concept is becoming more interesting and I've seen some pretty nice yaks rigged out for fishing. We RV/camp only in parks with a lake, stream, or river, so I think a lot of fun is in store.

I too have a big bass boat, but thoroughly enjoy yak fishing when I get the opportunity...soooooooo much fun getting towed around by a big girl!!

Bob, I haven't fished in a kayak yet either but I love to kayak, especially the sit in type, and we have so many lakes near us I thought I'd give it a try. The Hobie Pro Angler is definitely not going to be a huge switch from the fishing boat compared to the Ride. If you have good balance it's not bad in either but the PA is super stable.

I bet you'll have a blast with the kayaks while camping.

I have the Hobie trolley to get it to the trailer and if you look at the back of the trailer there is a roller (the same ones on the keel area of a regular boat trailer). I just lift the nose up to that point and they roll on pretty easy.
Dave at Mariner Sails took some photos or video, maybe he can post a link somewhere. I'll see if there is an equipment section on this forum or just post a video here when I get a chance.

Also, once it gets to the foam noodles it slides pretty easy. I made the rails for the NuCanoes we had but it fits the PA perfect.

Thanks guys.

I spent a little time today removing the front two braces so the Rides can slide in further, sand blasted the fenders, welded them on permanantly, and painted them. We also went down to American Canvas downtown Fort Worth to have a Sunbrella canopy made to keep them in the shade.
