Trying to clear up some details before choosing a new front fish finder.

I'm thinking of adding an Elite 7x to the front of my boat. There shouldn't be any problem mounting the transducer to the trolling motor right?

I want to clear up something else, does the 7x chirp ship with 2 transducers?? I haven't quite cleared up that question yet.

Also, my minnkota fortrex has a transducer installed in it, but I'm probably pretty sure I don't want to use that one? Thinking of using something like a transducer shield and saver product to pin the transducer(s) to the trolling motor. I'm kinda new to this lowrance stuff.

I have an Elite 7 HDI on my deck. Originally had the dual transducer on my Minn Kota Maxxum, no problems. Upgraded to a Terrova after the first of the year and started getting major interference. I assumed it was the built in transducer on the Terrova, so purchased me an adapter and hooked the Elite 7 to it. Interference is gone and actually clearer than my original set up. Lost my down imaging, but rarely used it on the deck anyway....

I would assume the 7X Chirp would come with the dual transducer....

Yeah it does, and I was wondering if the transducer in the trolling motor would have power put on it if it were not connected to a unit. Maybe it just runs all the time regardless of whether or not it's plugged into a unit?

A transducer is a combo speaker/microphone. The sonar unit uses it to send and receive sound pulses. It is NOT powered by any other source.

That's what I was thinking. So therefore if the transducer in the trolling motor is completely unplugged, it would certainly not be operating.
