it runs good and idles good then it will start spitting or coughing a little at slow speeds any ideals where to start looking

That is a lean condition. Vacuum, idle circuits in carbs dirty or fuel hose leak. Hope you don`t have those plastic carbs because they give me fits.

its on son in laws pretty sure it is the plastic ones
