old clamp on trolling motor that doesn;t work or is cheap. All I need is the bracket and shaft. I
need to build a clamp on rudder for my pond prowler and that seems like a good place to start building. Will trade Video's or tackle, whatever.

Better yet, do you have a clamp on rudder already built?

I need a rudder too. Has anyone built one without canibalizing a trolling motor for the mounting base?

Never mind. I found a Nylon Adjustable Flagpole Bracket at Academy and will rig up a rudder with some scrap plywood and PVC pipe.

Why the need for a rudder? I have a bass raider and was wondering if this would help me out any.

If the fish don't bite your not baiting right...

I weigh 205 and when I drive the Bass Raider by myself with the trolling motor in the bow, the stern tends to swing around kind of like a pendulum effect. It drives like a rear wheel drive car on ice with the rear end swimging around. It is worse when trolling with the wind. It is not as bad when I have more weight in stern like my 8 year old son. A fixed rudder in the stern will help it track straight. It will prevent the boat stern from going side to side.

The only time I've ever needed a rudder with my Bass Hunter Bass Baby is when I'm dragging a stringer around with me....and that's not very often these days with all the slot limits.
