Does anyone know if the transducer to my Humminbird 1199ci HD SI combo will fit in the 2015 Hobie PA14 transducer well? My transducer model is the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T.

Thanks.

Ken

Not sure if you can fit it in the opening, but I can tell you that with my HB transducer, the side imaging wouldn't work when it was mounted there.

If side imaging is important to you, you'll need to hang the transducer over the side or off of the back.

The only way you can use it with the well is to fab an extender type mount that will allow you to push it well below the surface of the hull. It needs clear "vision" to both sides and needs to be slightly below the bottom of the hull. If it is flush the sound travelling back to the side will be compresses by the presence of the horizontal hull bottom.
A popular method is to mount it to the front ( or rear ) handle with a ram mount and home-made extension bar. the processing time on the side scan is a partial second, but your display scroll rate will take another few seconds to come down on the screen. Putting the transducer in front of you allows you to see what is near you instead of well behind you.

Look through the pics in this ad and you can see what I am talking about. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/10599744/Pair_of_Hobie_PA_14's________2#Post10599744

Best of luck, Phill

Lowrance may be the way to go.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I will have to continue using my RAM mount or mount on the stern.

The problem is not the brand, it is the SI function.

The Lowrance transducer for side imaging is far larger than the humminbird SI transducer. ( Unless they have come out with something new and smaller very recently.) it is around 10" long and has the same mounting requirements as HB. I actually like the lowrance transducer better than the HB, but it was just too large.
