Upset with Old Mother Hubbard for a variety of reasons, I decided to step out of the box this morning. Living in Oak Cliff, Mountain Creek has always peaked my interest since it's 15 min from my house. Yes I've seen the reports, polluted, dangerous, sketchy parking, very shallow, etc. Well here's my report. The lake is very pretty pulling up to it. Parking is great, ramp is shallow, but easily launched a 21ft bass boat. Fishing was slow, but managed a couple nice bass in the creek, and misses a couple nice ones at the dam. And a monster crappie on a rattletrap trap. Most of the lake is very shallow, but you'll find 18 to 20ft at the dam and near intakes. Considering how close this lake is to Dallas, and how little pressure it gets, I would recommend it. I saw one other bass boat the entire morning. The creeks are full of grass, and lake, and fish seemed very healthy considering its water quality. Anyway, I will definitely be going back, considering I was on the lake fishing from my house in 20 minutes with no waiting to load/unload. I've been fishing Hubbard for 10 yrs now, Hopefully Mountain Creek will offer me a good local alternative. So good so far!
