when you had the floroclear on your reel what was the exact problem?

I've been fishing with it for over twelve years in the 10, 12, 15, and 20 pound sizes. When I first started I had a lot of break offs. A guide told me to wet the line when tying the knot. So up until recently I'd get broken off now and then now mainly on really big fish where I don't loosen my drag or on light line in the standing timber. But my landing the fish ratio is very high compared to the number of breakoffs.

What I do now when I hook a big fish is put the reel in free spool and thumb it until it wears the fish out some. Haven't had any breakoffs doing it this way. But it is a pain when the big slot or over goes under the boat and around the stump on the other side. Takes a while to get them back.

Breaks at the knot. i wet all my knots i tie palomar and clinch knot. they both break many times with just a sight pull.. the line is brand new, stays out of the sun i bought 12-15-20-25. and its the 12-15 i have problems with. i even striped off sereval feet. and re-spoiled the line on my reels still the same problem. make sure the line is not crossing it self in the eye of the hook. i even tied the line under water! to make sure its getting wet enough. i contacted P-line last monday and still no reply on there part.

I've never had a problem with their flouroclear except when I left it on the reel for too long.

CXX p line copolymer 10, 12, 15, you can't beat it for strength and abrasion resistance . Their Flo is no good . If you think you have to have Flo pick another.

If you want to try a different line, let me suggest Suffix Elite mono. It's a great line, smooth cast and strong.

I've been happy with P-line CX Premium for a lot of years. It is "mono" with an outer coating of fluorocarbon.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Big Game is very dependable. After it gets wet, the memory comes out of it. I would recommend green for low visibility.

I've had good results with SilverThread AN-40. It's a copolymer, small diameter, low memory line that has great abrasion resistance. I've used it for many years been satisfied with its performance.

I use P-Line CX Premium on all kinds of freshwater and saltwater applications (David Short got me hooked on it years ago) - was using the CXX, but I like CX a lot better. For fluoro, I use Seaguar INVIZX. It took a little time to get used to, but I love it now (I think Steve Stroman got me on Seaguar INVIZX).

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
