For something like a 7" Power Worm, what kind of hook do you use, style and size? I failed to hook-up on a few bass last week while using my normal Gamme 3/0 EWG hook. Could have been some white bass picking up my worm, or could have been the hook.

Could it have been bed fish just moving the bait? For Texas Rig I throw 4/0 on worm, senko or fluke at minimum. Depends on the bait and size but I either throw Owner or Trokar

I use offset hooks for worms, better hook ups. EWG for thicker baits and flukes.

MagFluker, I didn't think about that. Could have been. Frenzy, I plan to try regular offset worm hooks next time. Have read several saying a regular offset worm hook works better than a EWG for hook-ups. As you said, I'll continue using EWG hooks for flukes and stick baits. Thank you guys for the replies.

When it comes to a big bass you will be much better of with EWG hooks. I have had customers loose several big bass in Mexico where we are catching great numbers, while trying other off set hooks.

Donald, if you are a guide and telling me that, I need to listen to what you are saying. I've read that because the point of a EWG hook points directly at the hook eye it slips out of a basses mouth sometimes without catching meat/bone, whereas the regular offset doesn't point back toward the hook eye and is more apt to hook up. Experience is what's most important of course, but why do you think they lost fish on regular offset hooks. Just trying to understand.
