Taking the girlfriend out to Little Elm park on Lake Lewisville tomorrow and hoping to catch some crappie from the bank. Does anyone have any tips on what they are hitting on, good spots to fish from the bank, or the current state of crappie fishing in that area? What is the state of the spawn? I am new to fishing in the DFW area.

water temps in the shallows are in the 60s now. might be a little late for the spawn. but wont hurt to try. shad are shallow, right b4 sunrise and sunset, if ya got a net get some shad and do some kitty fishing if the crappie arent biting.

I was always under the impression that water temps need to be in the low 60's for the crappie to spawn in the shallows. That is when we did our damage last year anyway. is this not true?
I only fish on days that end in Y!

I was thinking about hitting this park on Sunday. I'm going to take my trusty live minnows but any other suggestions are welcome. Looking to catch anything fishy. Thanks

Wound up going out to buck creek instead. Fishing out there was very good. Caught a few crappie,10 or so whites and 1 wayward catfish. All in about 3 hours from the bank on minnows. Maybe I'll try little elm this weekend.
