I went to Grapevine yesterday to twin coves and it was slow, only managed to catch one keeper. Then the guy from the management office showed up and told us we can only fish on our slip so this was pretty much end of the fishing there. They changed the rules that you can only fish on hour slip Fri-Sat-Sun because some a$$holes caused some problems - supposedly they didn't want to move from someone's slip and kept undersized fish. One rotten apple messes things up for everyone else. Anyway, I went home and decided to try by oak grove for a quick trip. I bought minnows and got to the lake at 3PM and it was on. I got there at 3pm and by 4pm I caught 7 crappies, 4 really big ones and 3 huge perch. I missed few bites as well. At around 4 the bite died completely. I fished about 2 feet deep and very close to the bank. I went there today again but didn't get a bite, maybe the weather messed them up. One of the crappie was full of eggs so it looks like they haven't gone through the spawn yet.

Try a little deeper with some live minnows or a jig with a minnow on the tip.

So that's where they all are then on GV!?!?!?! bang Was at Scott's landing on Saturday eating at Big Daddy's but not fishing obviously. Must have moved all the Crappie to that end of the lake!

I was fishing Sat around the boat houses off dove loop and could not convince any to bite but maybe 15 feet in front of me i saw a blue heron pull up a nice Crappie in about 1ft of water. Unfortunately he flew off with it because i didnt think there was any way he could eat a fish that size and i wanted to see it. I saw a couple more backs and swirls in that same vicinity but they didn't want any jig i had.

I honestly haven't had a bit of trouble catching Crappie or any other fish at Scott's Landing. Sometimes you get on a school of small drum that will just beat you down but if you have enough minnows and can hold out long enough the crappie will come through. May even get some nice catfish to bite and I've hooked into fish that I couldn't even turn their head before they broke the line. I mainly fish with minnows but always keep a jig and jigging rod handy. When the bite gets hot I'll switch to just a jig but most everything has been off of minnows.

I usually go to Yates. At Dove and Kimball. Best sized minnows in my opinion. There's another place on Texan Trail that sells them as well.

Where are you seeing that? The site I look at it shows about a half a foot.

It actually didn't even go up half a foot, more like 3 inches.

1/2 a foot over 2 days. Still not bad. If any of you had to drive through the monsoon yesterday morning you would be surprised it didn't bring the lake up 6 feet. I assume the water is too muddy to fish now.

Hey we are fishermen and everything looks bigger in the water . I am trying to stay optimistic here. Grapevine really needs much more water.

From last week until this morning it has come up 8.64 inches.
It's up almost 4 feet from 3 months ago

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

It was 525.83 at 9:00 am yesterday and today at 9:15 its 526.58.... that's a 9 inch rise in 24 hours and I'm sure it's not done. Need a lot more but it all counts.

Guide Benny what site do you get your info from. Not questioning it by any means but the site I check updates once a day and shows different numbers. I would like to have more than one source.
