I grew up in South Texas fishing Saltwater and cannot seem to figure out the freshwater fishing game. Over the past 2-3 months we've run out to Hubbard 4-5 times and gotten skunked. Planning to head out this afternoon and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Not looking to catch every sandbass and hybrid in the lake, just hoping to catch more than a buzz for once (although who's complaining!)

With the fast water rising , Hubbard has been a little different this late winter than normal. It has been a right place at the right time kinda deal. The shad should be starting their spawn anyway . I have been fishing shallow and deep with mixed results .. I caught more fish shallow last week than I did today but that might have been cause of the cold front. Hubbard can be either very good , or work your [censored] off kinda lake . I have been fishing the warmest Water I can find at 65-67 degrees .. South part of the lake is only about 62-63 and haven't had much luck . The water level was 10.69 low December 6 , 2015 and now is 5.56 low .. lot of the fish finLly had the chance to go up the river to spawn unlike last year when so low . The hybrid fishing as been slow ... I only manged 1 hybrid today but it was a nice one at 7.7 lbs ..if you need more help feel free to call or pm me and I'll help with what I can .

What JV said thumb

welcome to Lake Hubbard smile
I was a salt guy before job transferred to fresh. It should be game on soon. Hybrids fight like red fish! Whites are fun to catch in numbers. Stay tuned to this section and you'll do fine smile

Thanks guys! I'm determined to learn how to catch fish out there. Tonight I managed to pickup 2 large mouth which were the first 2 fish I've caught out of the new boat. Finally!

Hopefully I'll find some sand bass on the next trip out.
