Anyone use this stuff regularly? I never used it but have seen it in the stores many times and was wondering if it's any good?

I think it is more of a confidence thing, but I would think little bit of the right scent would help. Such as crawfish scent on a jig

After being able to see how bass take baits a few weeks ago, I am now an absolute believer. I could watch bass stare at my bait for up to 10-15 secs, pick up my bait, not move, hold it half in their mouth, and then spit it out. With my GLX rod, I only felt a very small tap. Since he only had the back half of the bait in his mouth, setting the hook would have been worthless. Started using smelly jelly and worms with bang, and when the bass would pick up the bait, within a couple of seconds they would go ahead and suck it on into their mouth. That second sucking up of the bait was the second tap I was waiting for. Hook set, fish on. So for me, absolute believer. If they get it in their mouth and don't like what they taste, out it comes.

I use scents in certain applications. My own personal believe is that I don't think it helps increase strikes, but I guess it could if a bass is sitting there watching your bait for awhile and picks up some scent from it, but the reason I use scents is because I think a bass can taste it once they do bite and they will hold on a little longer or a little harder and give me a better chance of getting a good hoookset.

I think that the right kinds applied to the right baits may have an little advantage.
My wife loves garlic spray and mega strike, and I can't argue with success. She wacks'em.
She's fishes with t-rig 99% of the time. I think attractants are more effective on soft, slow moving baits.

On soft bodied baits that hold the scent well it helps in most cases. We can argue over what the percentage increase in strike rate and hold time is; I'd suggest it's pretty small. A small percentage increase might make a huge difference if your fishing for money and ounces make a difference.

I like scent on a worm that is not already scented like a Power worm. Trick worms, Flukes, jigs etc. Bang Garlic or Strike King Coffee Scent works good

There's some great research done at Pure Fishing on LMB holding these scent soaked sponges in their mouths for different periods of time. The increase in time held in the mouth was directly correlated to what scent was on the sponge.

Coffee didn't have much effect, garlic and salt did have a very minor increase in the time held. What made the bass keep the sponge the longest was night crawler extract. Pretty interesting given that most bass live their lives never seeing a night crawler.

I can't remember all of the flavors they used but it did show that they taste the flavor immediately, which isn't shocking when you see that a bass' lips and tongue are covered in taste buds.

There was actually quite a bit that went into developing the "power" scent from Berkeley.

Armpit sweat is also a great attractant! Watch those trebles though!

i'm not really sold, but who knows. I fished with a guy one time that put scent on his and dipped his worm tails in chartreuse. I fished with just the regular ole stick worm out of the package. I caught about 10 more fish that he did that day. Some of it is probably just luck, but the guy knew how to fish so i don't know how much difference it would make.

Night Crawlers live just as close to the waters edge as possible for the moisture. Any time the lake goes on a rise or after a big rain many get washed into the lake from run off. The shore line fish love them and will be in search for them.

I have been using Minnow extract and Night Crawler sense 1982. It has help me win many tournaments. We have done many test with both on the Mexico bass where the potential of catching over 100 bass per day is present. On a 100 fish day the boats using either scent have no trouble catching 100 bass per day. All other boats using any other scent will average 70 bass per day. That is a great difference.

In our lakes were we are only hoping for 5 good bites per day it is very hare to tell what really helps. My Biotech that makes my scent says he is surprised that we catch any bass because of the human odor that we leave on our lures when rigging them up. His test show that bass leave the area immediately when the human odor is present. All his test done with the chum bags show results that all fresh water species come to Minnow and Night crawler bags first and strike them more often than all the others.

One test he does is the speed test. In a 100 ft. tank where the bass enter through a door in one end they will hang around that opening before they will adventure out into the new habitat. But as soon as he puts a buff of Minnow Extract into the tank at the other end 100 ft. away they head straight for it to check it out without fail.

The most interesting thing that got me started making the Minnow and Night Crawler happen in 1982 when I fished with a older gentleman. Mr. Martin fished with me for 5 days on Lake Brady. Each night he would purchase 2 doz. Minnows and put a JIG, SPOOK and SPINNER BAIT in the bucket over night. He had all three already ties own his 3 rods and said it was important not to touch them. Each day he out caught me on big bass 3 to my 1. At noon when it was time to slow down he pulled out the Night Crawler box where he had burred in the worms a LIZARD AND BLUE FLAKE WORM. The result was the same; he caught the bigger Bass each day. He would always handle the Night Crawlers before putting the plastics on the T-Rig to kill the human odor.

I fished with a guy who was well respected in the tournament circuit back in the late 70's and early 80's. He was a mentor of mine. Point is I was fishing with him on Whitney and scents were just hitting the market. I was applying some on my worm and he looked at me and asked what I thought I was doing. I told him about some studies that had been done. He promptly dipped his worm in the gas tank, flipped into a bush and immediately caught a 5 lb Bass. He says study that. Never used them again.

After having spent 9 days fishing in Texas scents are all over the board some days Smelly Jelly was the answer on any type of soft bait then all of sudden it had to be J;s J;s garlic so go figure.

I'm surprised that there are still guys NOT using scents. I use Kickin Bass, it's not a spray it's in a bottle. I just drop a few drops in a pack of plastics and let them marinate. I guarantee my treated plastics catch more fish than the ones I don't treat.

Anybody have any thoughts on the scent sticks? I haven't tried them, but it seems to me it would last longer on baits that aren't made with scent in them.
