One of our guides Roy has fished it and he smoked the hybrid. Maybe he will chime in...

I grew up in Little Rock. If you like catching stripers, Lake Hamilton close by is the lake you'll want to hit.

I have been fishing DeGray for last 20 years on a family reunion each July. It is typical hybrid fishing except that the best bite is with top water baits. I have caught most of my fish using a Boy Howdy or small Zara Spook. Can still catch on rattle traps etc, but the best is always on top. It is an extremely deep body of water and you will find hybrids and sandies schooling on top in 70-150 fow. Any of the steep drops along the islands are a good area to start, but I usually do best on the west end in the open water south of the day use area just before the lake jets off to the north west. Look at a map and you will see what I am describing. Always ask a local when you arrive. The best bet is David and Vicky Egleston at Iron Mountain Lodge. Tell them the "White Trash Tour" sent you and you'll get a good laugh and some free info. Best of Luck.
