I have just started fishing for flatheads and caught my personal best on rod and reel.

I had a heck of a time getting him to the bank. My line broke as I was trying to pull him over some grass so that I could get him out of the water. bang
I wish my wife would have got a picture of my when that happened. I don't think I have ever dropped a rod and jumped into the water so fast in my life!

Anyway here is a picture of my new and soon to be old PB (11.5 lbs)

Nice! Love catching the flatheads. They are the best fighting cats in my opinion.

You should have seen my wife's 72 year old grandmother hook up with a 18 pound carp. That was a rodeo right there!

What size line were you using?

All my Yellow Cat setups have at least 30# mainline 50# leaders

I was using sunfish about 3" long. My mainline is 20# big game. The reason it broke was because I had the leader in my hand when I was trying to hoist it out of the water over the grass.

Spazm09, yes I was using live perch in about 5' or 6' of water.
