Can anyone give me any information regarding Amon G Carter? I know absolutely nothing about the lake. Is it a good bass, crappie or catfish lake. Can you access both sides of the lake from the water or do you have to pull out and trailer to another ramp? Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks

The New side of the lake has clear water and lots of trees and rocks. Old side is stained water with lots of boat houses and coves. Just depends on what kind of water you like to fish. I prefer the clear water. There is a tunnel in the dam that leads between each side of the lake that you can go thru in a boat.

The lake is at 913.25 today. The level has to be at least 912.7 for me to launch on the new side without going off the end of the ramp. I don't know whether you can get thru the tunnel at the level or not.

Used to fish the lake quite a bit. Went out last year and there was a ton of baitfish on the new side with some vegetation starting to grow. It can be a tough lake in the spring. I'd fish flukes and senkos on the new side. The area around the tunnel is the community hole but has some really big fish there. There's a cove to the right of the damn that is always good for a couple of smaller bites. This time of year I'd fish the two north facing coves about 1/3 of the way down the old side with spinner baits and dark colored texas rigged worms near the docks and rocks in those coves. We always heard rumors about big hawgs up in the upper parts of the old side of the lake but I never caught any there. The old side is a pretty good crappie lake also if you find old brush around docks.
