I hope you are right. I only have to work about 20 hours next week LOL. Gonna be plenty of time to go fishing!

They dropped the flow to 355 cfs. Parking lot at the dam was full. People were catching a few crappie and hybrids. Lots of goo and buffalo as well.

I went back to the dam this evening. I used my 4 weight fly rod and grey/white clouser. The fish really turned on after the sun set. I ended up catching 14 white bass and 8 crappie. Most of the fish were under sized though.

I also broke my Yegua Creek fly rod record for a small mouth buffalo.

This one was 29.25 inches and weighed 14.1 lbs.

See that guy down the bank from you? That's me. I was about to come down and ask if you were Jamie, then the fish started biting again for me and the next time I looked up you were gone. I'll be headed back out in the morning with a couple teenagers, so hopefully it will only get better tomorrow. I'll be wearing a fishing themed American flag summer cap, and I have a beard. If you or anyone else out there sees me, feel free to visit. My name is Mark.

The water was sure active this evening. I left them biting, and from the sound of your report, I left too dang early. Funny how all the whites you and I caught were undersized, but the ones everyone else caught were all keepers. LOL I measured five or six little whites and they were all 8.75-9.5 inches no matter how long I tried to stretch them, so I quit measuring and put all the rest I caught back in the water immediately after that. I threw some jigs and caught some dinks of several species, switched to punch bait and got all kinds of little nibbles but only caught one little channel cat. I caught all kinds of fish on shrimp. I didn't take any crawdads, but could have had a field day on the gaspergoos. I don't know how many total fish I caught in a few hours, but it was close to 40. With all the dink nibbles, it got frustrating at times having to re bait so much. Amazingly, I never caught a buffalo or carp......

I guess I'm solo today. The boys wouldn't get out of bed. 38 degrees at my house this morning. Wonder if the shad will still run to shore on the main lake this morning?

Lake level is 238.19 and releasing 355 CFS. It won't be long now before they close the gates.

The crappie bite is hot right now. Still lots of small crappie being caught but a few 12 inch are starting to show up as well. Fishing seems to be good everywhere; on the main lake, in the creeks and below the dam.

The effects of last years flood have really been great. There is an enormous amount of small fish and they are growing quickly.

Should be a great weekend of fishing. I'm taking off Friday too.

Are you talking Big Creek marina? have you seen it since the May floods? My guess is it ain't opening until someone buys it and repairs it. The crappie house is long gone too. Does that answer your qustion? If not, sorry for rambling.

Lake Level is 238.16. COE dropped the release rate to 187 cfs. I'm still catching crappie and white bass on the fly rod. Most of the crappie are small. I caught a few nice WB tonight though. I haven't caught a hybrid in a while. I suspect it is better in the morning for hybrids. At least that's been my experience below the dam.

It's been a great year of fishing already. I can't wait for the sunfish to start spawning. It shouldn't be long now. I found a number of sandy/rocky points that held bluegill last summer. I hope to find a few trophies in those spots this year. I'm still looking for the big green sunfish, redear and longear on the lake. I guess it all depends on how much time I want to waste exploring, rather than catching. That's fun too though.
