Not sure, but I'm taking my kayak out there Saturday morning to fish shallow areas. I'll report back.

A few years back we fished the sand bass run on the feeder creek, called South Prong Creek. The water was super clear and had tons of sandies in it. We walked in from highway 876, at 876 it is pretty shallow. The river just downstream from 876 had some nice deep holes, one was at least 8' deep. At that time you could also park right under the 35e / 77 bridge. I would bet you could still park there and put in at 35e and it would be a short paddle upstream. It will not take long to get to the clear water, if the sandies are there you will see them.

Good Luck.

Heading down there monday. Will put in at 35 and head upstream. When water is clear, tis time of yr., sand bass run can be off the chain!

Used to live in Cedar Hill and had a small Buster Boat at that time and the 35 bridge was one of my go to spots in spring but mostly for LMB. Had some very good trips with good numbers and size fishing from the bridge towards the lake but been many years since I have been there.

Plenty of holes in Waxahachie that hold fish. Stay on the South side of the lake...lots of grass on the southwest side. Creek feeds in from the West...when you get there lift your trim. Gets very shallow. once in the Creek is a nice place to fish. keep a spare rod handy for crappie/sandies.

was at the creek @ 35 today from at about 1-2 this afternoon nothing under the bridges walked up creek a little, still nothing. there were probably 7-10 people along the bank. never saw any one catch any thing. One person did have a stringer with about 3-4 crappie on it. Don't know if they have come in or not as this was my first chance to get out there. All I was using were jigs. Lots of little grass snakes out and about. wish I had more.

May the Good Lord bless you with a bend in your rod.

floated upstream of the 35 bridge on Monday, all the way up to the rapids below the 876 bridge, had no trouble finding lots of sandies, the problem was "short strikes"! Hook em fight em, get em to run a bit, then line goes slack! fish spit hook out! If I Had landed every one I hooked would have had a limit within an hour, they were that thick. Found the biggest concentration up by the limestone bluffs, just out from the submerged boulders. Gin clear water from first bend above 35, all the way to 876. Got 10 sandies and one crappie into my two man boat, and kept 5 rather decent males. The big ones I kept losing were females, as I could see they were bloated, in that clear water.

As usual, rooster tails and rooster tail knockoffs, in the 1/6th oz size, on 6 lb Trilene, along with 1/16 th oz curly tail grubs, white seemed to be popular, got the strikes.

The Limestone Bluffs:

I've been tempted to put in my canoe and head toward the 876 bridge just been too busy, I guess I need to make myself "unbusy".

Creek runs west to east. Upstream would be west. Not very far. But fish your way to the bluffs. Lots of productive water.
