We have all done it. Assuming you have a good hold thinking I don't need to pliers...then that fish says " I won't quit." and ouch.A good tool for the boat besides fish grips and pliers are a good set of dikes.

I learned the hard way a few yrs ago on Lavon. I took a rattletrap in the thump and could not get it out. The barb was buried in my thumb but did not make it out the other side. Cut the lure off, drove to the dock, loaded up the boat, drove to the hospital in Rockwall, had them remove it then headed back to the lake...my wife said I was an idiot....lol

My grandson buried a roadrunner jig up to the turn in my jaw. I had just seen the Hank Parker video on how to remove hooks from parts of the body. My grandson (Cody 14) handled the line and I held the jig flat. Pulled it out and fished the rest of the day. It actually works.

I hooked one of my cousins deep one time. Grandpa had it out in a couple of seconds. It does work (Old school)
