Hey guys. I live in the Prosper area, I have been buying minnows from the store in little elm near the bridge construction, but lately with the construction its just a pain getting in and out of there. Does any of you know of a place selling them along the 380 route to denton, trying to get to the bait shop in mckinney is tough with the 75 construction taking down overpasses. Thanks.

There's not any that I know of, but, a good plan would be to get you a tank of some kind (can be any 20-30 gallon vessel with an aerator) and buy 3-4 lbs at the bait outlet in lewisville and then just keep them on hand. Then you can always have bait and it's cheaper that way too.

Don't know how far you want to go west on 380, but just into denton theres a gas station on 380 just past the 288 loop on the left that sells them.

Thanks Mckinneycrappiecatcher, I would like to that, I have Tanks, filters, pumps. but I have nowhere to keep them cool. I can keep them in the shade with no sun but my house faces south. my garage gets well over 100 deg.
TallTXTrash that location would work for when i'm headed towards the Alton Bridge, thanks. Do they have A nice big sign to make it easy to spot.?
Mckinneycrappiecatcher, do you keep your minnows outside? do they do ok ? I was surprised how well the minnows were doing at one bait shop, they had them
in a wooden box lined with plastic, they were in the full sun, the lady said she would put ice in once in a while so they wouldnt cook.

I have trouble keeping them alive when temps get over 90. I usually just keep them inside when it gets too hot.

I'm not sure how long its been since you visited Denton but That shell station closed at least 10 years ago. There's a subway and a donut shop right past it now but none of them sell live bait. I have to go to Lewisville or Sanger to get live bait.

It may have closed but it has not been ten years. the last time I used minnows I bought them there and that was almost exactly two years ago, sandbass run in 2013. Sorry Darrell.

maybe we're not talking about the same place then. I'm referring to the shell station right as you come under loop 288 from 380. That Shell station has been closed for 10 years or so. If you look at the weeds around it you will know.

Go a little further to the west past the closed Shell station. There is a convenience store, I think it is EZ Check, on the left, just before Sonic (on the right). They have minnows. Don't give you many but at least it is convenient.

Missed something. I thought he was asking how to keep minnows alive. Get an insolated bait tank and put a little Ice in it. Used to go to a lake in OK. Hard to find minnows. Put may bank tank outside the trailer and plugged into a 12 volt battery. Kept 20 dozen minnows alive for 8 days.

Hi Ruff n Redi, I originally was asking about locations to buy minnows, but when Mckinneycrappiecatcher suggested buying in bulk, I inquired how he was keeping them alive since heat gets to be a real challenge for me. The Google bank fishing map shows the locations of bait shops, but I was hoping someone might know of one along the 380 going west that wasn't on the map, like maybe if I was headed for the Old Alton Bridge from Prosper. Thanks for the responses guys.
