Just looking for personal opinions, or facts. Stability, ride, price/value. Looking at around '02 - '05, any years to avoid the boats or engines?

If you want chine-walk get the Triton, if not, go Skeeter. Let's get this party started!

IMO, I have owned both TR boats and ZX bugs, it's a toss up to be honest triton seems to take rgh water better and the skeeter you sit really high in the seat. Triton you sit pretty low. Take the condition of each and judge based on what you can find. IMO i would only run a merc or Yama...Good luck!

If you want chine-walk get the Triton, if not, go Skeeter. Let's get this party started! I kid, I kid, just having some fun. I have not owned a Triton. I believe Doug R. has owned both, he would be a good reference. But ultimately, I think most would advise you drive both and get what YOU like.

TR196 for sure
Just never cared for Skeeters. Well-made boat for sure, but both Triton and Ranger hulls are superior IMHO. Not the most experienced person on this forum at all, but that's my take from having ridden in at least one or two of each brand over the past few years.

If you want chine-walk get the Triton, if not, go Skeeter. Let's get this party started! 2007 TR 196 great rough riding boat you will stay very dry, been in 40 plus winds and didn't get wet. It is a great hull for the price, extremely fast hull with Mercury 200 HP. Very smooth ride; storage is awesome, 44-gallon fuel tank, huge live wells. Love it; if you get a TR 196 you will not regret it. So far has chine-walk it might if your motor not set right or if your fishing solo and running 67+, we have had mine at 72 plus with no chine walk. Just depends on several factors to. I usually run 62 and very comfortable.

I like PK-BASSIN's boat. Nice riding boat in rough water, plenty of deck space, and he runs the trolling motor!

If you like a boat that you can drive wide open with your knee, get a skeeter.
I hate photobucket.

More room and better ride in the Skeeter. Front deck is wider on the Bug and its just a better laid out boat

Skeeter if you want a better overall platform. Triton if you want a boat that is fast and you really have to drive.

I've been in both and Both are great boats. Just get in them and you will know which one feels right.
