We fished the Nueces river Friday. This was the chosen spot we ended up catching 5 gar 4 males and 1 female ranging from 42 to 58 inches. All gar were hooked in the corner or roof of the mouth and were released unharmed

Those are more than likely 100% Alligator Gar, but they do have a slight hybrid look to them. Nice catches and very impressed with the hook out releases! cheers

Nice catch!!! Hoping I can get out on the Guadalupe soon, the river is going down. What hook is that you was using? Bait?

My personal best is still swimming out there just getting bigger. One of these days I will quit feeding it.

definitely alligator gar, if they swallow that big J hook it will kill them by popping the air bladder, without the pics i wouldn't have guessed it would be possible to get multiple hookups in the mouth..pretty awesome fish coming out of a little section of river..

of all the gar I have caught using this hook only 2 swallowed the hook and they were both hooked on the back of the tongue easily removed.by the way the water is only 3ft deep where we were fishing
