I'm heading to Fork sometime in the next couple of weeks. Leaving in the morning & going to fish until around dark. I have heard about thieves at some ramps. Do you think my stuff would be safe if mid afternoon I beached my boat in the Lake Fork Marina cove & ate a burger at their restaurant? Or am I better off just bringing some food in the boat with me?

I am a better to be safe then sorry guy, never had a issue myself there but have heard the horror stories. May be it is all because I don't leave myself open for the opportunity.

You never know who's around, and what theyre going to do. I say if you can see your boat from where you're eating you should be fine (assuming you could chase the person down, or if you see anyone go near your boat you immediately go question them). Or just go inside, order, and bring it back to your boat.

I know some of the guides stop for a quick lunch break. I wonder if they ever had any problems. Sure would be nice to get a burger instead of eating some cold sandwich, might go with the idea of ordering it to go while my partner stays with the boat.

Ive seen guides beach their boat and leave it for lunch with no problems, but then that's them. I never leave my boat unattended, unless I can see it and figure I can get to it if I need to. Maybe paranoid, but I figure it just isn't worth the risk. I'd have my fishing partner get the food while I stayed with the boat. If I didn't have a partner, I'd call in my order to the restaurant and that way they'd have it ready and you cut down the time you are away.

Never been a problem for me or anyone I know. Done it several times at Lake Fork Marina and Oak Ridge. But thats not to say it has never happened, I just never heard of it.

all the guides beach their boats for lunches, and at Oak Ridge you can beach your boat where you can see it now the water is back up.. naturally I wouldstore some things and take others that I dont want missing,..wallets-sunglasses-etc..
