You have to start with the 3 credit bureaus, you get 1 free credit report from them a year. But if your going to be fighting stuff I suggest you pay for a subscription to a credit monitoring deal so as you fight it it will make it easier. You have to start disputing and sending in proof you got them taken care of.

Sorry in advance for the length.
The whole credit bureau thing is always a difficult thing to work with. The thing to remember is that a company or business that puts someone into collection or places liens, normally does not care so much about making the corrections. Even when the things have been done in error, we don't see them running to make things right. The whole phone call and disputing process is very long and involved. There are companies that claim to help with this stuff but you need to be very careful. Most are doing nothing more that making a few calls, contesting everything and maybe trying to get creditors to settle for less. Settling for less sounds good upfront but that term is also entered in the bureau. Some future lenders look at that and wonder if they will be the next debt someone tries to settle for less. Any work that can be done directly with the original company the debt is with is the best source of getting things done.
We have worked with one company that seems to do a nice job with some people we have recommended. There is not a magic wand that can make thing go away. Getting things current and closed is the best place to start. That way the bureau will report things paid and then you start to recover and gain ground. The last part of this is that "toy loans" are different than a car or even a home. The burden of proof for something not necessary is a bit higher. There are government programs for homes and manufacturer money in auto loans. The toy business does not enjoy either of those things. That leaves banks and credit unions and a set of standards to meet or prove.
Let us know if we can help in any way.
Thank you,
Ken
