Morels are hollow...there are look alikes that are usally 3 times the size and red, called False morels. They are solid..That's the basic rule, solid...don't eat...hollow, it's a morel. Been hunting them for 30 years at least and get giddy this time of year...Just have to decide...Bed fishing or morels smile

Hey buddy.....can I get a GPS location on that? Those things are fantastic, a buddy of mine's dad would drive up to Indiana every year to go mushroom hunting. That was my introduction to those things. DELICIOUS! I love morels.

Oh man. I'm from WV and those beauties were a staple for the meals during spring Gobbler an Trout fishing expeditions. Thanks for sharing - I had no idea you could get them here in Texas!

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

I've been begging to get land to go hunt them for years. Folks would think you're asking for their first born child to get to go on their land.

I'm not going to ask for exact location, but I'm building a map of where they grow in Texas. If I could ask just the county you're in?

I just ate the first big ole batch.....mmmmmmmmm. for those asking where. I find mine near the red river. Many find them all around tj e dallas area. Dead elm, cottonwood and cedar trees seem to be the ticket..also any limestone in the area...big plus.

Congrats! I know they are coveted. I think I remember you posting about these in years past. I've never had them, but would like to try them one day.

I grew up in southern IL, used to find them every spring, I haven't found any here in central Texas yes, don't think we get enough rain for them
