If you would read the article Kernan turned himself in. It was not Tietje. You are judging without any facts

Glad he won the appeal. He never shoukd have been DQ'd
Skeet said on Facebook he had also caught his fish in an area then got ran off because he was told it was private. I was scratching my head, wondering why Mikes weight was DQ'd and not Skeets for doing the same thing.
Glad everything turned out for Mike and hope he has a great season ahead of him! Im assuming no one protested. Just because its private but unmarked doesnt mean its necessarily offlimits.

Kernan called the TD when he witnessed the signs being placed by a member of Grosse Savanne Lodge. Tietje IS the one that protested. Reading comprehension has taken a back seat in this country evidently....

I don't know why so many are po'ed at Tietge. Did he do something I don't know about? There is absolutely nothing wrong with filing a protest. Thats part of fishing. He may have not even known all the facts. Unless he lied in the protest he did nothing wrong.
I do agree that it was wrong to give him the points he made in the tournament. He should have been put back to the points he won after day 2 and return the money. As the appeal was found in favor of Mike, how is it not a hit against all the guys who Tietge passed on day 4?

[quote=JLP]If you would read the article Kernan turned himself in. It was not Tietje. You are judging without any facts Ummm, maybe because on day 2 there was a posted sign there that wasn't there on day 1 and Kernan did the right thing by letting the TD know.

JLP, maybe this will clear things up for you.

Mike Kernan Pro Angler Athlete 12,552 Likes March 20 at 9:32pm Well, some unfortunate news today. Louisiana has very different private property laws that includes navigable water. On day 1 I fished a small ditch on a wildlife refuge open to public fishing. I traveled through private waters that were unmarked. On day two, a boater was in the canal and put up no trespassing signs. I left after talking to the tournament director and fished other water on day two. Another tournament angler very familiar with this water protested my day 1 weight and my weight from day 1 was disqualified. I have an appeals process I will consider, but for now I will finish this event with 8 pounds 4 oz.

He protested so that he could advance onto the next day of fishing. I'm sure if Dennis would have been in 100th place, we would have never heard of this.

If calling the TD after witnessing the signs being posted and admitting you were fishing there is not turning yourself in then something is wrong with this picture. Where is the proof Teitge protested. I read the article but no where does it state Teitge protested.

Guys, thank you for all your positive comments! JP, we buried our history in Vegas years ago!
I am grateful for the process available to me through BASS. It is the right place for me to fish. Trip and Chuck are really good guys, and had to make a tough decision with the information they had at their disposal at 9pm Friday evening. BASS did not take a win or a top finish away from me. They did their job as professionals, and I have no hard feelings about it.
My protest was formulated around 2 major points. A website that the state of Louisiana uses for property borders, was not a final ruling of a regulatory body. This website was used in my DQ. I proved that it should not have been used. Secondly, I proved that I followed all the rules laid out in the tournament briefing sheet.
There are additional facts that I can share. But remember I am bound by an Angler Code of Conduct. I can share facts with you, but I cannot do so with prejudice. These are the same facts that I shared with the appeals panel: 1) The protest Dennis filed quoted that a Sweet Lake Land and Oil Company property manager telling him I fished private water. 2) Dennis Tietje never saw me in this water. 3) Sweet Lake Land and Oil Co owns the land where Grosse Savanne is located. 4) Gross Savanne sponsors Dennis Tietje. 5) The man posting signs Friday morning was wearing a Grosse Savanne t-shirt.
Those are facts that I can share. I will not draw any conclusions on them. I am moving forward.
Again guys, I sure appreciate the support! Especially from my sponsors!

Where is the proof Teitge protested Thats not turning yourself in. That's alerting the TD that the scenario has changed regarding the access to your water. Tietje admitted he filed the protest.
