Sallysue, I am reluctant to chime in with any valuation because split bamboo fly rods aren't as popular as they were a few years back. I actually got started building split bamboo fly rods by buying them off eBay and reconditioning them.
There are numerous things that I found over time that, without close inspection, could either create value or else take away from the overall worth of the fly rod(s).
Value truly lies with the owner and what its purpose is, too. If someone just wants to hang it on the wall, minute details are not an issue.
I have seen Montague split bamboo fly rods sell for up to $400 in pristine, unused condition. I have also seen them sell for $25 in various stages of disrepair.
