OK so early this morning i was looking for a good spot to go kayaking, and i finally decided to try my luck fishing cavasso creek. so i got out there right at daybreak, and im throwing a deadly Dudley on a jig-head, anyways my first cast was almost a success right as soon as it hit the water something took it. i couldn't see what it was but im pretty sure it was a red. it ended up spitting the hook and i never brought it in. so im still throwing the same thing for about an hour with no luck. so i switched to a speck rig and caught an 11 inch flounder. after that i work the bank for awhile with the speck rig and no luck. so i switched to a medium sized rooster tail and i casted into this little cut and hung into a BIG red!! unfortunately it spit the hook as well. after that things got pretty slow so i started using dead crab and caught a 19 inch red.. so even though i had no keepers today it was still fun. also any advice for fishing this creek next time would be helpful!! thanks

If there's enough water in the creek there are several good spots up above the bridge that may produce; I never go upstream myself but some do. Hit those marsh ponds along the north shore out near the mouth of the creek. Right now that water may be a little bit fresh, but I haven't been there since November, so I'm just guessing. You can also run across to Egg Point and fish that east shoreline; there will be some reds in there this time of the year. Cavasso Creek holds a lot of reds and specks, but a lot of folks are afraid of the gators in there. Did you get to meet Ole Stumpy?
