As of yesterday I noticed that my truck is making a loud noise from under the hood when its running. The more gas you give it the louder it gets. I can't tell any difference in how running or riding other than the loud noise. The truck is an 05 F150 Crew Cab 4x4. Does this ring any bells? Its not a high pitched noise so I know its not the belt.

I would look at your belt driven accessories, water pump, alternator, possibly fan, power steering, a/c compressor etc.

To do yourself not much. To have done probably a couple hundred. Should be a simple repair, take old belt off, a few bolts out new one in same place put bolts and belt back on. If you haven't replaced the belt in a while would be a good idea to do it too. Last tentioner I bought was for a mid 90's model chevy truck and was about $40... but that was probably 10 years ago.

Go to Auto Zone and borrow the tensioner tool. If they don't have one, buy one they only cost about $20. Makes dealing with the belt and tensioner a lot easier. Oh, and get a new belt while you are doing this.
