needing my 3rd set of tires on my 2009 laramie 1500 and after running the stock tires for 104,000 miles i am wanting a more aggresive look to my truck. im looking at the Cooper Zeon LTZ for my next set. it has more of an all terain look which is what i am after. anybody running this particular tire or one similar on their pickup? if so what can i expect a far as ride and will i incur a loss in MPG? anything else i should be concerned with if i do switch to this style of tire? thanks for any and all feedback.

If you stay with the same size and load range of tire ride and economy should be almost exactly the same. I have never noticed a drop in fuel mileage till I started putting bigger tires on, tread pattern, be it street tires or mud terrains has never changed mine. If you go to a heavier load range tire the ride will likely be a little stiffer.

+1, unless you go real aggressive just watch the weight. It is what will get you. If you do go up a size then compensate for it on your MPG calcs or you will get the wrong number.

A more aggressive tread will typically have more rolling resistance resulting in lower fuel economy. That's not to say that some AT type tires might not yield the same fuel mileage as some street type tires- there are other factors involved such as tread design, rubber compound, etc. that affect rolling resistance as well. With that being said, I've had good luck with Cooper tires and wouldn't hesitate to run them in the future. I am currently running the BFGoodrich TA KO2 and have gotten several compliments on them- don't recall getting many compliments from strangers on my tires EVER until these.

I went the used route a few months ago and somehow stumbled uppon a matching set of Micky Thompson MT's. They are significantly bigger and pretty damn loud. I havent noticed any change in fuel economy

Go with the Nitto Terra Grapplers, i had over 35k miles on my last set, before i traded the truck, it still had plenty of tread. Just keep them rotated, and they will last

I had brand new Coopers on my Ram 2500 when I got it. Barely got 35K out of them. Replaced them with Nittos and slipped the steel belts on 3 of the 4 with less than 30K miles on em. I will never buy another Nitto, EVER. Ya can't beat Michelins. That said, ask yourself one question. Do you do more all terrain driving or road driving? Buy the tire that is best for what you do the most of. All terrain tires are noisy and do not get the miles a road tire gets, longevity wise, and they ride way worse.

All terrain tires are not that noisy at all unless it look like a damn MT then its going to be loud. You also have to consider the weight of the tires to. I personally and a lots of people on a offroading forum have good experience with Cooper ST Maxx.

try the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor All Terrain tire. I am at almost 70,000 miles and man they are incredible. Good wear, handling and grip in wet or muddy conditions. I have a 2 wheel drive and was stuck bumper deep in back in mud and managed to get out. I will be adding my third set in about 5-10,000 miles

Check out Toyo AT tires. You'll be glad you did.

Put some falken rocky mountain ATs on my dodge ram 1500 and mileage only dropped by about .5mpg. Went up to 8ply and that is probably more why i lost some mpg. Pulled better with the stonger tires though. I now have an f150 4x4 with the same tires and they perform well.

Toyo are some of the best

MPGs will drop more due to weight than tread. I tested a set of 10 ply Goodyear MTRs for a month once and then switched to Goodyear Duratracs load range C. I saw little difference in MPGs both from the MTRs to the Duratracs and from the stock BFG Rugged Trails.
