I would like to have one to play do not want to spend 400 .00 for one. Do you need to spend that much or is lower price one work just as well if not looking that much with it?

I played with one and never had pictures like you see the pros posting. I never used the editing studio, just saying I wasn't please with the photo quality straight from the camera.

I have a GoPro 3+ Black. It was definitely pricey, but takes amazing photos and video. From what I've seen the lower priced ones can shoot just as well, you just don't get as many features/options. The new ones, GoPro 4, have touch screens. As far as video/picture quality goes, you just have to adjust the picture/video resolution. Just my opinion. I love mine, and there's a lot of accessories decently priced. Best of Luck.

Depends entirely on what you're needing from the camera. There are lower priced models with plenty of solid features.

I use a Swann Freestyle, you can get them for around $100, works really good and you can hook an LCD screen that comes with it to the back of it if you want.

Ill be honest with ya, you can shoot video and pics all day but what you see in these commercials is all about editing. The gopro just gives you the ability to put a camera in enviroments where you couldnt before. Alot of guys are disappointed for that reason and end up selling the cameras. My advice would be to buy an entry level model and get comfortable with editing software. Here is a pics I shot this weekend and put some editing on it.

I had a gopro hero 2 that lasted about 2.5 years before it stopped working. It took great videos. I never used it for photos. I recently bought the hero 4 silver and it has been awesome so far. The video is great without any editing.

Just make sure you also get a fast SD card. I have a silver 3 and was having issues with the video jumping. I got a new fast SD Card and all is good now. The GoPro video editing software is easy to use as well and its free.

I just bought a go pro hero 3 white yesterday for only $200 brand new and cannot wait to try it out. With the go pro hero 3 and newer cameras you can sync it to your phone through the cameras built in wifi with the go pro app and use your phone to control the camera and see live footage of what your camera in filming. I think would be absolutely wonderful for filming underwater shots! You can change all your cameras setting through your phone as well. I'm excited to try it and see what I can do.

Along similar lines, what kind of ways do you mount your camera on the boat? I have tried the handlebar/seatpost mount to the back seat, but that is about all I have used. Not bad but a ways from the front deck. I don't want to wear it because I have a tendency to move around a lot, and the video would be moving all over the place. I have seen some stuff on line about the adhesive mounts, but I don't know if I trust the adhesive mounts to keep it from going over the side in rough water, and I don't want to lose the dang thing.

I was disappointed in the battery life of using it for video, especially in cold weather (duck hunts, quail hunts) would get about 45 mins of video footage before the battery would die. Low light video has a lot of noise and grainy, but with decent life, the video quality is good. Never used it for stills. If they could triple the battery life, it would be a great product.

They have a flex clamp that I use, works great and can put it almost anywhere. This is probably the mount I use more than anything - fishing and hunting. I also use a rollbar mount on the rear seat pole. A tether is a good idea....

Took this one with a hero 3+. Everyone is correct it's all about the editing software. Just shoot video all you want take it back to your computer and you could freeze frame The clip save the pictures how you want them then edit them all you want. This one is not edited but I have done some decent editing on videos with the basic software off of GoPro's website.
