Want to have a shot at a 20-30 pound striped bass...COME TO TEXOMA!!! Man oh man just in this last week we have seen 8 fish over 20 pounds and all but 2 are still swimming and ready to go make more. In the past few months i have seen as many or more over 20 pounds than in the last 20 years combined. In my 21 years of guiding and over 30 years of fishing this big lake i have NEVER seen this many trophy class fish. It's blowing my mind and it's not just me...Andre,Wand and Jimmy also have had some 20 plus fish. Carey is next but he has gotten very close several times it WILL happen. Most days this is not a big numbers trip but the chance of a beast is every cast. 20.2 Ole brian been fishing with striper express for 25 years and just for a sec can you imagine catching 2 fish in the 25 pound class WOW and congrats...said let em go 25.5 24 23.88 19&20 Trips been producing as few as 1-5 and as many as 20-30 fish a trip with around 8-15 fish being the average. Grinding em hard some days but when your in the right place at the right time its GAME ON!!!! water temps been 45-49 and this cold spell not going to warm it any

What depths are you fishing? Also what kind of retrieve are using? Thanks for your insight in advance I appreciate it. I am just trying to use some of the same techniques on CCL. I don't see why they wouldn't work for Hybrids as well.

You know, We went out there in December and had a blast. Caught my biggest striper ever and we caught many good size ones. It was a great day. I really need to get back out there asap, looks like it will have to wait a week....
I only fish on days that end in Y!

Truly amazing, Chris! What a blessing for you and bigT. TPWD stated the severe drought was one of the contributions to more trophy stripers. Who would have thunk?

Thx Todd! I do agree with them that the drought and smaller spawns have helped some but I truly believe almost the sole reason is a few years ago they closed the lake for the whole summer due to the fake blue green algae warning and hundreds of thousands of fish got make it to the next level and not meet the knife. That's really what I believe caused it and high gas prices tough economy for years along with drought etc.

Great fish! Great that you released all but fish for pics! Question: If the drought (FEW BOAT RAMPS OPEN), lake being closed (NO ONE FISHING), and economic conditions (FEWER PEOPLE FISHING)are why there are so many big fish, maybe the limit on fish needs to change if you want big fish. That is the question, do you want big fish or more fish?

I'd say the 2 fish over 20 inches helps.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

since the limit change back in the nineties we have maintained 20 percent of our fish over 20 inches the limit has really worked and it helped cause this as well with the exception of this last year 2014 where 40 percent of our fish are over 20 inches. In my 21 years have seen the lake cycle up and down this is just an upcycle and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it

That answer changes almost daily a Great guide who's no longer on this earth told me the ability to adapt in a moments notice with what you see on the fishfinder is a great weapon. I can tell you this over the last couple weeks on sunny warm days they've been up pretty shallow sometimes is shallow as 8 to 20 foot of water but most of those big ones over this last weekhave came from ledges and humps anywhere from 30 to 60 foot down and we are reeling very very very slow sometimes not at all

Iphish it won't change much it hasn't been super easy it's just super big fish if you happen to be at the right place at the right time when they get on the feed it can be awesome but most days it's just grinding them out

Do you have an opening around 3/21 - 3/24? Where do you head out from? What is your policy if the weather is bad? My 16-yo niece is coming down for Spring Break. I would love to help put her on a big fish. I suspect 2+ lb. would be a PB for her. Not sure if she will be on board though. She liked to fish when she was younger, but you know how teenagers can be. Thanks! JB Oops, found the answer to my 2nd question on your profile.
