Truly amazing, Chris! What a blessing for you and bigT. TPWD stated the severe drought was one of the contributions to more trophy stripers. Who would have thunk? smile cheers

Thx Todd! I do agree with them that the drought and smaller spawns have helped some but I truly believe almost the sole reason is a few years ago they closed the lake for the whole summer due to the fake blue green algae warning and hundreds of thousands of fish got make it to the next level and not meet the knife. That's really what I believe caused it and high gas prices tough economy for years along with drought etc.

Great fish! Great that you released all but fish for pics! Question: If the drought (FEW BOAT RAMPS OPEN), lake being closed (NO ONE FISHING), and economic conditions (FEWER PEOPLE FISHING)are why there are so many big fish, maybe the limit on fish needs to change if you want big fish. That is the question, do you want big fish or more fish?

I'd say the 2 fish over 20 inches helps.

since the limit change back in the nineties we have maintained 20 percent of our fish over 20 inches the limit has really worked and it helped cause this as well with the exception of this last year 2014 where 40 percent of our fish are over 20 inches. In my 21 years have seen the lake cycle up and down this is just an upcycle and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it

What depths are you fishing? Also what kind of retrieve are using? Thanks for your insight in advance I appreciate it. I am just trying to use some of the same techniques on CCL.

That answer changes almost daily a Great guide who's no longer on this earth told me the ability to adapt in a moments notice with what you see on the fishfinder is a great weapon. I can tell you this over the last couple weeks on sunny warm days they've been up pretty shallow sometimes is shallow as 8 to 20 foot of water but most of those big ones over this last weekhave came from ledges and humps anywhere from 30 to 60 foot down and we are reeling very very very slow sometimes not at all

I like it Big Bad Beast. I think you can coin a new acronym. The triple B, B3, or B cubed or something smile

Those are some awesome fish.
