Happy new Year. I am usally trolling around the bass section but will have an opportunity to go on a fishing trip in late April out of Padre Island. Fished on the Gulf once but stayed in the surf one day and a day of wading for reds. What kind of fishing should I do for a memerable trip? I would be a single or might talk my wife into going. Do not have unlimited funds but willing to pay for a good trip. Any recomendations for guides/captians would be appreciated.
Thanks for the advice and good fishing.

a state water red snapper trip sounds like a perfect fit. In the winter the big sows move into relatively shallow water within state waters, so you can keep 4 each, close to shore, done in a half day, pretty cheap. Find a good weather day & you're golden! Osprey is apparently still running... http://ospreycruises.com/osprey-fishing-trips/best of luck & post a good report!

Yep The osprey has been on them thick for long time! Nice boat, good crew, and great captain all make it a great time out on the water. I have sent a bunch of people their way and they all have a good time. The last group I sent to them caught a few blackfin tuna and had a blast.

I used Capt. James. Anderson Coastal Adventures in Port Aransas last August. he and roma are the best!! I've been out with a lot of different captains. Most were good, but not all of them will do what you want. I've had some that said "my boat- you will fish where I take you for what I want you to catch. No shark, etc." I will never use those again. Talking to James before the trip, his first words were" You are hiring me. I will suggest what I think is the best bet, but we will do what you want." The best trip ever!!! Limits of big snapper, some small shark and lings with a couple of kings too. Reasonable price for an excellent trip. I have already booked him for two more trips the end of February. Don't do the party boats if you can help it. They are over crowded and can't cater to individual needs. Facebook Anderson Coastal Adventures and have a great time. jeff
