With the rain we have received, the steps may be the only place I will be able to catch some whites before this year's spawn is over and done with. It takes a long time for the Yegua to calm down and clear up, but it only takes about a week for the river to become fishable. Therefore I will be spending some time down there.

Jamie, you would enjoy fly fishing this place. You can really get that bait on out there. But you would be surprised at the idiots that will try to walk behind you while you're doing this. But it only takes one good hook up to stop them from doing it any more.

Yes, I bet it would be great fun. Especially compared to having to roll cast everything on the Yegua. Even if they are smaller it would still be a great fight on a 4 weight.

Is it crowded during the week too?

Not as bad. Get in waders and you have 95% more freedom. There has been very few people on week days.

What do you mean the only place to catch some whites? You make it sounds like there are only two places in Central Texas to fish.

Yep, you are so right; I should not have made that statement. I should have said I only have two places that I chose to fish for whites, Yegua and the steps; therefore I will be at the steps in about a week due to the flood waters in the Yegua.

I don't think I put a time frame on the spawn, but what I do know from the past is, the spawn begins to taper off around the end of this month.

I changed my post to read, (the only place I will be able to catch some whites). Perhaps thats the way I should have posted this comment in the first place. I need to watch how I word things in future post.

It's closer for me too. I might give it a try soon, maybe Friday. I don't have anything going on tomorrow, so I might swing by there and check it out ip close.

I went through Circleville today and the water was not chocolate anymore. I could see the bottom on the east side of the bridge just driving across it.
