I went on Saturday, but the bite was slow around the Steps. The people that had fish, had 2-5 keepers.. I caught two crappie and two sand bass, only 1 of each were 10 inches and bigger. There were a lot of wardens out here, had 4 of them check my fish size and my license, good to know someones out there.

Glad I followed this Willis creek post, I have yet to read a good report. I think someone is trying to defer folks over there so they can fish the steps with a few less anglers is all.

couple days of warm weather and there will be enough fish for everyone to catch, if you know how to catch them. Just make sure they are 10 inches or more, there are a lot of wardens out there.

Was at the lake last Saturday. 3 GW's at the Fox Park east ramp. Not sure what was going on but was good to see them finally. Has been about 5 years since I saw a GW at Granger.

Keep on fishing.

Oh that day there were a lot. I was there as well, fishing and I heard there were 6 GW's around, I only met 4. It is good to see them around, makes you feel safe as well.

I went to the steps today for an hour to try out some new line. Fireline, which is a braid line in four pound test. I myself do not like it. Hard to tie and when you hang up it tries to cut you hand pulling on the thin line. It also created a little more friction on my bait. Oh well, I gave it a try. Time to switch back to what has always worked, Mono. Oh yeah, the water is as clear as glass, I did not get a single bump while I was there.

I heard there was a guy fishing with a fly rod that got into them pretty good right before this cold snap. He likes to fish the hole just downstream from the bottom of the steps. Fishing waders are must in this location. Not unless you like fishing and standing in real cold water. But he fishes a good spot for this time of the year and water temp, but you have to fish this spot from the other side, or from the water. I'll fish it later in the month once the water warms up a little. I have some waders, but I can't see me using them anymore, to much extra strain on the old back. Really, they are to small for me, time to get some new ones.
