What are the things your looking for? Please list in order of importance, I'm in the process of designing my own. I know what I like, but I'm going to have to order a minimum of 500 and will probably need to sell some to cut down on my investment. Also what would be the 3-4 patterns/ colors you like the best. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I'll buy a couple of your sq. bills, you have been turning out some excellent patterns.

Top patterns for me 1. Blue gill 2. Sexy or citrus shad 3. Baby bass
What I look for 1. tapering body with rear hook attached to the very end of the tail 2. paint job 3. split ring attachment coming out of the nose/not the bill 4. quality of the bill 5. hook quality

I look for a bait that is a clone of a Lucky Craft RC 1.5 or RC05. Rattling. It is hard to find a rattling square bill of any kind. Chart perch colored, cooper shad. I really wish I could get some in those sizes in the Norman fire tiger pattern. I have bought a lot of blanks and when you order them try to get the best ones you can. The ones with the textured scale pattern seem to look better when painted to me.

your work is awesome!! but for me my number one priority when buying small squares is the lightest colors. All shad colors, (sexy shad) and the occasional light colored craw, and bluegill pattern

Tennessee shad colored. Blue top/white bottom. Chrome with blue. Chrome shad pattern. Something funny, for fun fishing days. Maybe a robot circuit board looking thing. Just for kicks. Or you brand painted really big on it.
Oh. And a bluegill/perch color.
And a bright red.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Be sure to ask each company that has blanks that you would like to hold in your hands to send samples before you jump into 500 of them and not be very pleased.

Be sure to ask each company that has blanks that you would like to hold in your hands to send samples before you jump into 500 of them and not be very pleased. The company I talked to yesterday said they would build me a few if I paid a fee for them building the mold to my specs. I figured that was fairly standard operating procedure. I could be wrong though, I know nothing about having things custom molded. I sure won't be paying for 500 baits without seeing a product first if that is what someone wants I will be looking elsewhere. It's also going to be plastic and the body won't be like anything else I have seen for sale. Thanks for the feedback so far guys keep it coming. I keep waiting for someone to tell me I'm an idiot for wanting to get into this. lol

There is a plastic company in Sanger. I dropped by there once and he showed me a crank bait that they and done for someone. You might want to check them out. There are a lot of benefits in working locally on a project. I will look them up if you are interested let me know.

Anything like the Strike king 1.5 rattling in Tennessee Shad. The oval split rings has been good stuff... Hooks are unimportant since I usually change mine out.

1. Buoyancy - Square bill without buoyancy is useless. In my opinion most important quality of a square bill that makes it effective. 2.Feel - tough to describe but I know it when I feel it. A baby one minus is not enough, wiggle wart too much, more like a terminator 3/8oz tandem Colorado/Indiana . 3.Size - 2 - 2 1/2 most of the time occasional bigger but never smaller. Generally the smaller you go, you lose feel and buoyancy. 4.Hardware - Quality short shank hooks - gives you the option to throw hooks with wider gap without fowling the bait Split-rings - hybrid or power round split-rings on hooks and quality oval on line tie. Careful on too big of hooks and split-rings cause it can dull the feel.

5.Color - Bluegill patterns. My favorite is mountain dew or chartreuse root-beer or chartreuse w/ blue splatter back for off color or stained water. For clear just more natural or translucent. Shad colors I am not that big on but do have them take your pick. I think bluegill patterns are a must.
