I made it down to Rockport to fish post frontal conditions and, subsequently, low, low water levels. I launched around 7:15 with a decision to either paddle across the first flat knowing I would have to at one point get and drag or paddle all the way down Wilson's Cut to re-enter in the next cut. I went with the former and immediately had to get out of my kayak. I targeted a drain from that flat with hopes of fish stacked up, but after a thorough work over I managed only one slot red. The incoming tide, although very weak, played a bigger hand that I had expected. I decided to paddle over to the next flat, specifically a deeper hole located there. As I approached the spot the water turned from gin clear to cloudy, great sign. On my second cast I land a solid trout. I set up for a couple drifts in the light west winds to pattern the fish. Each drift produced numerous bites, strung fish, and a handful of break offs to keep me on my toes. By 10:15 my pumpkinseed/chartreuse Cocahoe had fulfilled its duty with a limit of reds (up to 26") and trout (up to 24"). Great day on the water, and I got to restock mine and my parent's freezer with trout and reds.

Man, that's awesome! You can't beat catching limits of 2 species, in short sleeves, in January!

Love fishing Shamrock, it's a spot I fished the most when I was in college down there. Of course, what I didn't report was the skunk the day before fishing with my dad in Copano. Winter fishing in that bay has been off these past two years. Whenever anyone wants to get salty around Rockport hit me up, I'm always down for a trip south.
