A friend called and told me some work was being done to the ramp by the dam so I went by today and was pleased to see some concrete being placed between where the new ramp dropped off to an old existing asphalt ramp used before the lake level was raised. I'm very excited to say the least. This link will allow access to the lake for another 8 to 10 feet of water drop...maybe more. Thank you TRWD! Looking down the ramp, where the new concrete starts is where the ramp dropped off. Maybe not as good as getting a flood to bring us up to pool but we'll take it for now. The newly improved ramp should open in about 2 weeks.

Good deal! We'll find out who can back a trailer and who can't. ha! Got an uncle living on that lake. May be time to drag my boat up there and go visit.

I thought I would let everyone know. The ramp will be very long, 150 to 200 ft. Then you will need to turn your
trailer to the south a little right at the water line to avoid backing your boat into the rocky shore to the
north. If you can't back straight for that long please be considerate and go to the 380 ramp. I hope they removed
the big rocks 25 to 30 ft. out under the surface. They were a lot of them there. If not then there is only room
for one boat to unload and pull back to the ramp to pickup the truck driver. There won't be any room to beach
your boat except on the ramp. The water is deep enough to unload easily, just will take a little bit of precision
boat driving to get away from the rocky shore. I'm looking forward to using it myself.
Check out my website if your interested in hybrid or sand bass fishing at the link below.
Tight lines! jeff

I sure like the fact that TRWD keeps the anglers in mind so often

They probably just needed a better ramp to be able to put in another pump barge!

I walked the ramp today. It is 297 ft. from the sign at the top to the water. Long way for some folks to back a trailer. They moved the rocks in the water over and built a wall? I have no idea why. There is room for one boat to be beached at a time when unloading and loading the boat. So be ready to wait a while to load or unload. Sure hope we get some water up that way soon. TRWD said they would open the gate to the ramp in about a week or so.

Talked with the Bridgeport lake super today. They are doing work on the parking lot. He said the gate would open in a week or two. It will still be a difficult launch for some folks. I guess we will all have to have some patients (sp?) if we use this ramp. Tight lines jeff

hey there rockhopper your thoughts on that "exceptional" Bridgeport lake record set last spring ? I was surprised myself and kind of astounded at the same time heard tell of this fish and looked at the tpw website and there it was ..... interesting for sure seeing as "we" aint got no big fish west of 35

I was talking to a land owner on his dock right after that fish was caught and I thought he was blowin smoke. Guess I was wrong. My thoughts??...yeah I'm a bit surprised. We've caught some respectable crappie over the past several years but nothing close to that. If you looked at Lake Bridgeport records you might have noticed there isn't a record for black crappie listed......yet.

I thought the exact same thing sir .... a man on a dock was telling me about his bud ketchn it I thunk sure bud whatever he says its on the TPW website I check the next day and sure enough there it is and yes sire I look at them lake records sometimes to get an idea of what might be swimmin round in certain spots interesting to say the least do you suppose its due to a reduced pressure on the lake ? caused by the low water conditions ? we have seen a trend similar on other water bodies with limited access as well
