Lake water level too low for these creeks.

it's still a little early for up here

if we don't get some more rain, Hickory will probably be the only
creek they can run in, like last year.

We need another month at least before I'll start fishing the creeks. FYI there were two creeks last year that had running water. Caught fish in both.

As mentioned. It's a little too early. I was looking back at aome pictures in my phone today and it looks like last year we started catching them good in the creeks in late February. The best crappie fishing for us was in late May though in 2-3FOW in the main lake any where we could find rocks. They will spawn for a couple
Months. If your fishing a creek take minnows and fish the timber in 6 plus FOW under a cork. They will bite jigs as well but when I'm in search mode I use minnows. Once you find Them try a tandem set up if the brush is not too thick. Or just alternate. Focus on slow moving current in the deepest pools in the creeks.

I think Bassthumb's advice is good.

Water temp was between 45 and 48 degrees when I was yacking around HC the other day. After about 6 hours total between Sat and Sun I didn't catch any keeper crappie, but it was great weather! Since I was in catch and release mode anyway I was happy just to catch dinks.

Hows the bite been over here? Does anyone know a good place to launch a kayak around old alton bridge?

You answered your own question!!! Drag that sucker down fish all the way out to the lake have someone pick you up at the ramp! Or vise versa

You can launch at the bridge but its some work. If you have a cart you can launch at 2499 also or if you're into a long paddle launch at Pilot knoll park.
